Greetings from JITMM2017! On behalf of the Sornchai Looareesuwan Medal committee, I would like to invite you to nominate a candidate for the ‘Sornchai Looareesuwan Medal 2017’. Applications are currently being accepted for the prestigious award to be presented at the Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting (JITMM) on Friday 8th December 2017 at the Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
Prof. Sornchai was a former Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand and former Director and Secretary General of the SEAMEO Regional Tropical Medicine & Public Health Network. He made significant advances in the field of malaria research and the ‘Sornchai Looareesuwan Medal’ will be offered to a researcher whose efforts also represent a significant innovation or breakthrough in malaria.
Award candidates are required to be nominated by an affiliated organization or parent institution. To nominate a candidate, you need to send your nominee's CV together with a personal statement from the sponsoring organization/institute stating the reasons why the candidate would be a suitable 'Sornchai Looareesuwan Medal' winner.
The renowned JITMM will showcase this year’s 'Sornchai Looareesuwan Medal' winner and the recipient will be a keynote speaker in the Closing Ceremony on Friday 8th December 2017. JITMM2017 will be held at the Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, 6th – 8th December 2017. The theme of the meeting this year is “Tropical Medicine 4.0 Effective Collaboration for an Impact on Global Health”.
The ‘Sornchai Looareesuwan Medal’ winner will receive: 1) a certificate of recognition 2) free registration and one hotel room from Tuesday 5th December to Friday 8th December 2017, as well as 3) free registration for one accompanying person.
The winner will be chosen by a committee chaired by myself. The committee’s decision will be based on a thorough analysis of each candidate’s research efforts, considering the information contained in the CV and the supporting statement supplied by the sponsoring organization/institute. The deadline for nominations is on Saturday 15th July 2017. The winner will be announced on our website (www.jitmm.com) in September 2017.
